Handrail

by MWSP

Part of a railing of a building at Sullivan barracks, initially called “anti-aircraft barracks I”. Today’s Franklin area consists of several parts. Some of them had already been part of barracks built during the National Socialist era. Accordingly, they bore the “signature” of the National Socialist regime. Among other things, there were swastikas worked into the metal of the banisters, which were only partially removed by the US Army and otherwise simply painted over or filled in. As a result, they were basically preserved when the property was handed over to the MWS project development company.
