Carnival medal

by MARCHIVUM

Carnival exerted a certain attraction on the US soldiers stationed in Mannheim. German-American carnival events were organized as early as the late 1950s and from the 1968/69 season, the 1st German-American Fasching Club held an annual carnival session in the Coleman Barracks in front of a large audience. It was also supported by local carnival clubs. Of course, there was also a carnival princess, who was usually a female US soldier. American carnival medals with a reference to Mannheim, such as this one from 1971, were also awarded.
