About the exhibition

“Mannheim without Americans is hardly thinkable.”

This is how the US military newspaper “Stars and Stripes” quoted Doris Scott, who used to work in the US garrison, on May 22, 2011. And indeed, the decades of US presence have left their mark on Mannheim – not only with its buildings, but also on a social level. In the “House of MAEMORIES”, these influences are presented in a variety of ways.

On the one hand, it is about military life in the Mannheim garrison, and on the other about the everyday life of the family members living in Benjamin Franklin Village in particular. Of course, the various exchanges with the people of Mannheim are also included.

You will find further information on these topics in the exhibition.
